In 1994, one of my magic students visited the Houdini Magical Hall of Fame in Niagara Falls, Canada. He captured about 40 minutes of video footage that provides an interesting look inside the museum at the time. About eight months after this video was taken, the museum burned down. While some of the collection, including the famed Water Torture Cell, was destroyed in the fire, a lot of the paraphernalia survived and still exists in a number of private collections. Unfortunately, the museum, in operation from 1968 through 1995, was neglected for the last several years of its existence. Even so, I feel fortunate to have walked through its halls surrounded by magical treasures owned by the “Master Mystifier” himself. Without further ado, here’s the video. Enjoy!
